Scrollbars are invisible until you actually scroll — you have no idea if there's more content
In Finder, Safari, basically everywhere — there's no visible scrollbar sitting on the right side of the window. You genuinely can't tell if a page has more content below unless you physically scroll. Coming from Windows this is maddening.
Why does this happen?
Apple hides scrollbars by default to create a cleaner look, especially on trackpad-heavy MacBooks. The setting was introduced alongside OS X Lion when Apple started pushing the it just scrolls philosophy.
How to fix it
1
Go to System Settings → Appearance.
2
Under Show scroll bars, select Always.
3
Scrollbars will now be permanently visible across all apps.
